NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the fourth time in league history, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will buck into North Charleston, South Carolina, returning to North Charleston Coliseum on February 4-5, 2022 with the PBR Collision at the Coliseum.
For two nights only, 45 of the best bull riders from around the world will compete in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness. Going head-to-head against the sport’s rankest bovine athletes, the tour stop will showcase the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast.
Last season in the Palmetto State, young gun Jesse Petri (Palestine, Texas) captured the first PBR event victory of his career, setting him on the path that would conclude with him qualifying for the first PBR World Finals of his career.
Petri, the lone rider to deliver a perfect 3-for-3 performance, began his efforts inside the North Charleston Coliseum with an 86-point score aboard Speckled Chicken. The young Texan then surged to the top of the event leaderboard in Round 2 when he covered Pinball Wizard for a matching 86 points.
Clinching the golden finish, Petri brought the raucous crowd to its feet in North Charleston when he delivered the high-marked ride of the event in the championship round, scored 89 points atop Lockdown.
Following his victory in North Charleston, Petri has been a near mainstay on the premier series, now firmly inside the world’s Top 20 and a top contender for the year’s coveted Rookie of the Year honor. An emerging talent in the sport, Petri’s initial success on the Velocity Tour has continued on the elite tour where he has registered an additional event win and one 90-point ride.
Other past PBR Collision at the Coliseum event winners include Alex Cerqueira (2020) and Tye Chandler (2018).
The North Charleston tour stop will tentatively mark the eighth Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event of the year, with PBR’s fastest-growing tour first stopping in cities including Portland, Oregon; Cedar Park, Texas; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Jacksonville, Florida.
The bull riding action for the 2022 PBR Collision at the Coliseum begins with Round 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday, February 4, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 5.
Forty-five bull riders will get on one bull in Round 1. Round 2 on Saturday evening will feature the Top 30 riders from Round 1, the riders’ individual two-round scores will then be totaled with the Top 15 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
