Every fan knows that PBR is a tough, hands-on sport where those hands get dirty.
And now the men and women who haul the steel, construct the pens and fences, bring in the dirt, save riders from rampaging bulls, and break it all down to go to the next city have their own official glove.
A major new partnership announced today makes Mechanix Wear, the leader in high-performance hand protection, the Official Work Glove of the PBR.
The brand, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, also becomes an Official Partner of the PBR and its premier Unleash The Beast series.
“The Mechanix Wear and Professional Bull Riders brands are both synonymous with durability and performance,” said Michael Hale, CEO of Mechanix Wear. “This partnership allows us to leverage our innovative material technology to protect hard-working hands in the ring and beyond.”
Through the multi-year partnership, Mechanix Wear will equip those inside the arena, including the bullfighters protecting the riders, the gateman, latchman, and other members of the PBR arena operations and production crews, with gloves from its Durahide™ line, which are built with abrasion resistance performance leather, the ultimate tool for hardworking PBR hands.
Mechanix Wear and PBR will also launch two new social media content series for fans.
The first series, “Mechanix of the Ride,” which debuts later this month, will feature PBR broadcasters analyzing the best ride of the past weekend.
The second series, currently in development, will provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the work involved to bring the PBR Unleash the Beast tour to life.
“This partnership will equip PBR and our teams with the high-performance hand protection needed to run events at the highest level on a weekly basis,” said Josh Baker, SVP, Partnerships, PBR. “In addition to protecting the hardest-working hands in sports, our work with Mechanix Wear to develop unique and exclusive content will deepen fans’ understanding of our sport and showcase the men and women who contribute to its success.”
Mechanix Wear debuted its Original® glove at the 1991 Daytona 500 and has since extended beyond automotive applications into industries including commercial, hardware, farm and fleet.
Now entering its fourth decade, Mechanix Wear will continue to roll out a full slate of products that deliver the superior fit, feel and function needed to provide protection to the PBR.
