PUEBLO, Colo. – Valentine’s Day weekend was extra special this year for two-time World Champion Jose Vitor Leme and his wife Amanda as the couple celebrated the birth of their baby boy, Theodoro, on Saturday.

It has been only three days, but Leme said via his social media channels that being a father is truly something indescribable, and he is happy that Amanda and Theodoro are healthy and doing well.

“February 13, 2021: A date that will forever be marked in our lives,” Leme wrote. “A date when our greatest wealth and happiness came into the world, that business where fatherly love is unexplainable and unlike anything is definitely true, only 3 days with him and it's so hard to explain how good it is.

“Welcome to the world, Theodoro, and our family. May God grant us all wisdom to be good parents and may you grow up with the greatest joy and health in this world.

“Congratulations mom @maandarodrigues for being so strong all this time to generate this life, you were amazing and I'm sure you'll be the best mom in the world to our son. I love you so much.

“We thank God so much for presenting us with this strong and healthy boy.”

Leme is currently out of competition recovering from a broken right ankle he sustained during the season-opener in Ocala, Florida, one month ago, when Dirty Sancho bucked him off in 2.75 seconds.

The reigning World Champion opted to not undergo surgery, and he is now halfway through his recovery and rehab process. He is expected to return to competition at some point in March, possibly Longview, Texas, on Feb. 27-28, or Glendale, Arizona, on March 13-14.

Leme said in January that one blessing of his injury was that he would be home for the birth of his son.

“I thought it was going to be a good start this year, but everything happens for a reason,” Leme said. “I will find the good thing of this deal and turn this into a positive. This will keep me home with my son. If I did get surgery, I would be out four weeks and maybe would have to leave my son at home.”

Leme can now focus on enjoying time with his growing family before ultimately returning to competition to pursue his second world title.
