SCORE BULLETIN – CHALLENGE DAY 12

First Game of Final Day of Regular Season Division B Competition Produces Second Tie of PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge

Team Lucas Oil: 0 points

Team Cat: 0 points

LAS VEGAS – The bulls in Las Vegas flung, flattened and frustrated the riders, and for the second time during PBR’s new team tournament, Game One on Challenge Day 12 produced a tie, this time with Team Lucas Oil and Team Cat finishing their Division B play with a 0-0 tie. Team Lucas Oil was plagued by injuries, with all four original riders ruled out of the competition. That thrust three new riders – Venn Johns (Bixby, Oklahoma), River Stephenson (Blackfoot, Idaho) and Dalton Rudman (Wellington, Utah) – into action. While neither team was able to make the eight-second whistle, with the tie Team Cat (0-5-1) avoided being the only team to go 0-for-6. Team Lucas Oil finished play at 1-5. Both teams had been eliminated from playoff contention earlier this weekend.

Team Boot Barn Captain Daylon Swearingen Rides His Squad into Championship Weekend

Team Boot Barn: 152 points

Team South Point: 0 points

LAS VEGAS – In a win-or-go-home final divisional game between Team Boot Barn and Team South Point, Team Boot Barn captain Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) singlehandedly carried his team to Championship Weekend July 10-12 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, by putting up the game’s only two rides. In going a perfect 2-for-2 inside South Point Arena, the 20-year-old New York cowboy provided all the points needed for a shutout victory to lock Team Boot Barn into third-place, and the final PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge Division B playoff spot, joining Team Ariat and Team Pendleton Whisky. Coming out on top of Probably Wrong (Paradigm Bull Company) for 69.75 points, the No. 4 bull rider in the world turned down a re-ride opportunity, and came back to start the second half by besting Sniper (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 82.25 points. Team Boot Barn’s 152-0 victory was not without problems though, as Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas), who had gone 3-for-4 thus far in the tournament, did not get on his second-half bull after hanging a spur on Buckin’ For Cash (Paradigm Bull Company) and aggravating a groin injury in his first out. Alvidrez is probable for Championship Weekend. Team South Point finishes Division B competition at 3-3, narrowly missing the playoffs. Team Boot Barn heads to champion weekend in Sioux Falls as the Division B wildcard, with a record of 3-2-1. They will face off with Division A’s No. 2 seed Team Las Vegas (4-2) on Wild Card Friday (July 10) at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

“We were determined to make it to Sioux Falls,” said Team Boot Barn Captain Daylon Swearingen. “We haven’t done exactly what we needed to do here, but we’re glad to make it.”

“When I got here I thought I was mentally ready,” noted Team Boot Barn’s Andrew Alvidrez. “But physically ready? No, not yet. We’ve got to keep working.”

Team Pendleton Whisky Charges to No. 1 Seed and Secures Bye with Win over Team Ariat

Team Pendleton Whisky: 258.75 points

Team Ariat: 88.5 points

LAS VEGAS – The hottest team in PBR’s new team tournament, Team Pendleton Whisky, earned a first-round bye on Championship Weekend after an explosive performance against Team Ariat in a battle for the top divisional playoff seed. Riding to a 258.75-88.5 victory, Team Pendleton Whisky leaves Las Vegas as the No. 1 seed from Division B of the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge. Team Ariat had been Division B’s top-ranked team at 4-0-1 going into the regular season “Game of the Week” finale. Team Pendleton Whisky Captain Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil) had a flawless day inside the Let ‘Er Buck Saloon, going a perfect 2-for-2, weathering the storm aboard Pink Tornado (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 86.75 points, and taming Buck Wild (4B Bucking Bulls) for 86 points. Team Ariat Captain Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) refused to go down without a fight as the 2016 World Champion contributed the only ride for his squad, an 88.5-point trip aboard Melanie’s Dream (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve). Week four addition Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas) also tacked on a ride for Team Pendleton Whisky, making the 8 aboard Just Incredi-Bull (4B Bucking Bulls) for 86 points. Team Pendleton Whisky improved to 5-1 in Division B play, while Team Ariat dropped to 4-1-1 and is the No. 2 seed. Both teams are heading to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for Championship Weekend of the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge presented by U.S. Border Patrol, July 10-12 at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

“I’m trying to forget everything, the pain and the bulls I bucked off of,” said Team Pendleton Whisky Captain Marco Eguchi. “I know I can do better every day, so I concentrate on the new day. All of my buddies here are sore, but we got it done tonight.”

“These guys are tough, I just came in for week two,” said Team Pendleton Whisky newcomer Boudreaux Campbell. “These guys were already banged up when I got here. But I just showed up to ride and we got it done.”
