PBR Global Cup USA returns to CBS network television with commentary from Team USA Eagles coach McBride

One-hour highlight special, Keep Riding 2020 PBR Global Cup, presented by Monster Energy, airs Sunday April 19.

By Kacie Albert

NEW YORK CITY – Over the past decade, fans around the globe, have grown accustomed to hearing two-time PBR World Champion Justin McBride call the action of Unleash The Beast events from the CBS Sports booth as one of the league’s main color commentators.

However, that was not the case in February when the prestigious PBR Global Cup returned to the United States, bucking into AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the 2020 WinStar World Casino and Resort PBR Global Cup USA, presented by Monster Energy.

As the only man in history selected to lead his nation for all four editions of the international team tournament likened to the “Olympics of bull riding,” McBride set down his television headset, instead donning the Red, White and Blue of America to serve as the Head Coach for Team USA Eagles.

In the seven months that passed from his selection as coach, to the moment the first bull bucked to open the Global Cup USA at AT&T Stadium, McBride worked diligently alongside fellow CBS Sports personality, and PBR Ring of Honor inductee, J.W. Hart to assemble the best six-man roster to represent Team USA Eagles in an effort to retain their home soil.

As a result of the intense efforts from the two legends, a process documented by the docu-series Price For Glory, viewable on RidePass at RidePass.com or via the mobile app, McBride and Hart assembled the winning contingent that would ride supreme over the course of the two-day event.

Now, just two short months later, the very event that left the bull riding world speechless will return to CBS network television as McBride provides never-before-heard commentary into the moments that led to Team USA Eagles becoming the first nation to defend home soil at a PBR Global Cup.

While CBS Sports had broadcast the initial bonus round of the 2020 PBR Global Cup USA, this is the first time that action from the final day of competition, including Round 2 and the second bonus round, will be seen on free broadcast television.

Over the course of the one-hour highlight special, McBride, joined by renowned PBR on CBS play-by-play man Craig Hummer, will detail all the crucial moments, both highs and lows, that shaped his team’s historic return to global bull riding glory.

McBride will go ride-for-ride with Hummer as they look back at Australia’s incredible come-from-behind push on the second night; Team Brazil’s fall from glory; and the unexpected monstrous rides from the likes of Team Mexico and Canada, all within the lens of America’s rise to glory.

Among the pressing questions viewers will finally receive insight into:

What was the temperature of Team USA in Round 2 after Cody Teel bucked off allowing Australia to inch within a few points when Lachlan Richardson posted a massive score?

How crucial was Matt Triplett’s follow-up ride on La Grande to enlarge Team USA Eagles’ lead?

What was the vibe of the team when Claudio Montanha Jr. bucked off Strange Cargo, eliminating them from a chance to win the event?

For these answers and more, fans can tune into Keep Riding 2020 PBR Global Cup, presented by Monster Energy, on CBS Sports on Sunday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. ET (check your local listings).
