Little Rock Injury Updates: Rookie of the Year contender Brittain facing ACL/MCL tear

Bradley Brittain injured his knee when he was bucked off by Hurricane Party in Round 1.

By Justin Felisko

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Bradley Brittain had his right knee in a brace and stretched out on a folding chair inside the locker room on Saturday night at Simmons Bank Arena.

Brittain had torn his ACL/MCL Friday night during Round 1 of the Bad Boy Mowdown when Hurricane Party bucked him off in 2.85 seconds and twisted his knee in the process.

The 28-year-old had to miss Round 2, and is headed to Dallas Monday to get an MRI done to learn the extent of his injuries.

“It is probably going to be an ACL tear, which you can go without an ACL in this sport,” Brittain said. “So they are mainly concerned with the MCL deal. I will do an MRI Monday and go from there, hopefully. It just depends if I will need surgery or not.”

Brittain is ranked 28th in the world standings, and is fifth in the Rookie of the Year race.

“Anytime you get hurt it is frustrating, but really I am just ready to get there to Dallas and see what I need to do to get better and ride,” he said.

VIEIRA MISSES CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

Fabiano Vieira was unable to compete in the championship round, according to PBR Sports Medicine director Rich Blyn, because of a right hip strain/contusion he sustained when Space Force bucked him off in 2.94 seconds in Round 2.

ADDITIONAL INJURY UPDATES

In other injury news during Round 2, Lindomar Lino sustained a left thumb sprain when he was bucked off by Monkey in 2.10 seconds.

Amadeu Campos Silva dislocated his left shoulder when Ain’t Easy Being Me took him down in 3.15 seconds.
