CASSVILLE, Mo. – As a rainstorm that miraculously held off all night descended upon Bill Hailey Arena on Saturday night in the small town of Cassville, Alisson de Souza (Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil) stood humbly in front of the out gate as fellow riders, with tears in their eyes, congratulated him on winning the inaugural Ridin’ with Mason Lowe Memorial.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and an overwhelming local turnout, proceeds of $15,000 from the event honoring a fallen cowboy who never said no to anyone in need will be donated to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in his name.

Souza was just one of 40 cowboys that gathered in the small town, located minutes from where Lowe spent his childhood, to honor their friend in true cowboy fashion.

In the opening round of the Touring Pro Division event, the young Brazilian cowboy conquered Hood Hustle (Generations Pro Rodeo) for 84.5 points followed by a monstrous ride in the championship round aboard Humberto (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) for 87.5 points. Collecting 60 world points, the win also garnered Souza a custom-made saddle embossed with a purple feather in memory of Lowe.

Emotions were running high as Lowe’s best friend and No. 2 ranked bull rider in the world Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas) collected a second-place finish. The crowd at the outdoor arena reached a deafening roar as Outlaw, the last rider out in Round 1, climbed aboard Mic Drop (Jenkins Cattle Co.) for an 84-point ride. In the later championship round, Outlaw rode Chuck & Larry (Jenkins Cattle Co.) for 87 points. He leaves Missouri with an additional 30 world points, closing the gap between the Arkansas cowboy and world No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) to 184.16 points.

Brazilian rider Leonardo Lima (Vale do Paraiso, Rondonia, Brazil) fired out of the chutes in Round 1 for an 83-point ride aboard D.O. (Bill Henson/ Gene Owen). Later in the championship round, Lima secured his third-place finish and 20 world points with an 84-point ride aboard Lucas Oil Sky High (Lucas Cattle Co.).

Fourth-place went to young gun Chase Hamlin (Holton, Kansas), who recorded an 87.5-point ride aboard El Segundo (Bill Henson/ Gene Owen) in Round 1. Despite being bucked off Yippy Hi Yo (5G Farms) in the championship round, Hamlin collected 15 world points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil), who rode Lil Hank (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in the opening round for 86.5 points. Although Burning Sky (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc) dispatched Barbosa after just 2.49 seconds in the championship round, he took home 10 world points.
