HAMPTON, Va. – As an energetic Virginia crowd cheered inside the sold-out Hampton Coliseum, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Brady Sims (Holt, Missouri) won the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Hampton Classic.

After sustaining an injury in 2017 that took him off of the PBR’s Unleash The Beast series for a long recovery, the Missouri cowboy reminded PBR fans of his athleticism and determination on Saturday night in Virginia.

Following an 85-point ride aboard Mr. Valentine (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, Sims was one of only two riders to record a qualified ride in the championship round. As he rocketed from the chutes aboard Zacchaeus (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle) in the final round of the night, the crowd was on its feet when his 87-point score came in. The win earned Sims 180 world points and a $7,150 paycheck.

Every winner of a Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event has an opportunity to compete at an Unleash The Beast series event. With the victory in Hampton, Sims will go to Tacoma, Washington, for the Tacoma Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, on March 30-31 at the Tacoma Dome.

Brazilian rider Ueberson Duarte (Itambacuri MG, Brazil) finished second, collecting a paycheck for $4,850 along with 90 world points. He rode to the runner-up finish compliments of his impressive 80-point ride aboard Blue On Black (J Bar W) in Round 1. As the only rider other than Sims to make the 8 in the championship round, Duarte conquered Joker (Rickey West Bucking Bulls) for 86 points.

Dylan Smith (Ararat, Virginia) finished third in his home state courtesy of his 86.5-point ride aboard Rehab (Triple R Bull Co.) in Round 1. Despite being dispatched by Freakin Wicked (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle) in 3.56 seconds in the championship round, the Virginia cowboy took home 105 world points and a paycheck for $3,300.

North Carolina cowboy Jacob Dunning (Lexington, North Carolina) took home a fourth-place finish, collecting a paycheck for $2,300 and 45 world points. His Round 1 ride aboard Aftermath (Triple R Bull Co.) for 85.5 points secured his place in the championship round, where Ricochet (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle/Smith) got the better of the young rider.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Colt Galven (Knoxville, Tennessee) with an 83.5-point score in the opening round aboard Checkered Flag (Truple R Bull Co.). Despite being dispatched off of Dang It (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle) in 2.0 seconds in the championship round, Galven leaves Virginia with 15 world points and $1,140.

A pair of bovine athletes shared the spotlight for top bull of the evening with matching 44-point bull scores. Squeegee, a bovine athlete owned by Triple R Bull Co., erupted from the chutes in Round 1, dispatching Treven Ward (Shady Point, Oklahoma) in 1.8 seconds. Dang It, owned by Davis Rodeo Ranch, received his high score for his matchup with Galven in the championship round.

The Velocity Tour next travels to Bangor, Maine, for the three-day Bangor Classic on March 8-10 at the Cross Insurance Center.
