CHICAGO – Current world No. 1 and 2017 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) continued his hot streak from New York City Saturday night, winning Round 1 of the Unleash The Beast’s Chicago Invitational at Allstate Arena.

Lockwood began his third career appearance in the Windy City with an 88.5-point ride aboard Show Me Homie (TCB Ranch/K-C Bucking Bulls). The ride was the 21-year old’s fifth consecutive ride after he went 4-for-4 last weekend to win the league’s season-opening Major event in New York City, and tie for second in the first 15/15 Bucking Battle of the year.

Early in the 2019 season, Lockwood leads the PBR with the most elite tour round wins, with three. Watch Lockwood’s ride here.

For the round win, Lockwood netted 100 world points and further cemented himself atop the world rankings. He now leads No. 2 Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas Do Rio Pardo, Brazil) by 672.5 points.

Competing through a bruised right calf, Leme, who began the night No. 3 in the world, finished second in the first round. The Brazilian’s 87.25-point score on Blue Crush (McCoy Ranches) earned him 60 world points.

A three-way tie for third place had Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas), Dakota Buttar (Kindersley, Saskatchewan) and Cooper Davis (Buna, Texas) each earning 40 world points for their equal 87-point ride scores.

Outlaw rode Trouble Maker (Bronco’s Bucking Bulls) before Buttar tied his score on Real Gun (Cord McCoy/G-G) just two rides later. Davis earned the same score on Canadian Fire (Blake Sharp/Machinery Auctioneers) to also pick up a qualified ride on the night.

For Buttar and Davis the 8-second effort snapped a buckoff streak for each cowboy. Prior to the ride, Buttar had been bested by his six prior elite tour draws, while Davis had been sent to the dirt early by his past five bovine foes.

Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) started his night by making the 8 on Mr. Miller (Blake Sharp/EJ Cattle Co.) for 86.5 points. He picked up 15 world points and finished in sixth place.

Fans will be able to watch all the action from Round 2 and the championship round on CBS Sports Network at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 13.

Saturday’s Round 1 will also be viewable Sunday starting at 8 a.m. ET on RidePass.com or via the RidePass mobile app.
