SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Two of the PBR’s biggest stars will have to get X-rays this week following injuries sustained at the Sacramento Invitational, per Dr. Tandy Freeman.

Two-time World Champion J.B. Mauney has been advised to have an X-ray done on his left leg after he was stepped on following his season-high 88-point ride on Hou’s Bad News in Round 3.

Mauney says he may have a broken leg.

“If we all didn’t have bad luck, we wouldn’t have any luck,” Mauney said. “It may be broke. I will give it a day or so and see how it feels. If it don’t feel too bad, we will rig something up and head on off to Fort Worth Wednesday.”

Mauney is scheduled to compete at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, No. 4 Chase Outlaw is going to get X-rays on his neck as a precaution after he landed on his head following a 6.86-second buckoff against Lifting Lives in Round 3.

“I guess when I hit the ground, I don’t know if it was my helmet that popped or my neck that popped,” Outlaw said. “My helmet wasn’t adjusted so that might have been it. It is just tender and sore. (PBR Sports Medicine) looked at me and Tandy said it possibly could be a fracture, but he doesn’t have any proof. He isn’t saying it is or it isn’t. This is just precautionary.”

Outlaw is 1,047.5 points behind world leader Jess Lockwood in the world standings.

According to Freeman, both riders are out pending the results of their X-rays this week.

No. 14 Cannon Cravens will also be out until the results of his X-rays this week after he had his right leg stepped on by Gangster Can Do (3.26 seconds) in Round 3.

Juan Carlos Contreras (concussion during his 88.75-point winning ride on Acting Crazy in Round 3) and Emilio Resende (possible medial meniscus tear during his 87.25-point ride on Whiskey Bent in Round 2) are questionable for next weekend’s Express Ranches Invitational in Oklahoma City.
