TOLEDO, Ohio – At the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Velocity Tour event in Toledo, Ohio, Daniel Tinsman (Farmland, Indiana) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the Toledo Invitational inside the Huntington Center.
One of four riders to deliver a flawless performance in front of the raucous crowd, the 23-year-old began the night with an 85-point ride on Salty Dog (Big Rafter Rodeo).
As one of the last men to erupt from the chutes in the event’s final round, Tinsman surged to the lead, covering Slow Ride (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 89 points, tying for the championship round win.
For his career-first Velocity Tour win, Tinsman earned $6,550 in addition to 180 world points.
Tinsman’s win also earned him an invite to the elite PBR Unleash The Beast’s Sacramento Invitational in Sacramento, California on Jan. 25-27 at the Golden 1 Center.
Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) finished second in The Glass City, collecting $5,000 and 115 world points.
In Round 1, Tyler rode Dirty Dan (TCB Ranch/K-C Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points, which he followed with an 87-point trip aboard Bone Tomahawk (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).
The finish is the Oklahoma man’s best of the season on the Velocity Tour, with his top effort previously his fourteenth-place result last weekend in Oakland, California.
Set to compete for Team Mexico at the upcoming PBR Global Cup, Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Mexico) was third.
After an 82.5-point ride on Amish Screamer (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, the two-time PBR Mexico Champion was propelled to his best finish of the season courtesy of his 89-point ride on Sugar Boom Boom (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G) in the championship round.
He leaves the Buckeye State with $3,150 and 55 world points.
Scott Knapp (Edgewood, New Mexico) was fourth, netting a check for $1,700 and 20 world points.
The fourth rider to reach the 8 aboard both of his draws, the 11-year professional rode Brimstone (Big Rafter Rodeo) for 81.5 points in Round 1, and Otis (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 85 points in the championship round.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Lucas Fideles Souza (Barnstable, Brazil).
The Brazilian rider’s finish was backed by his Round 1-winning, 86.5-point ride on Get Rhythm (Derek Bevington).
For his efforts he earned $2,040 and 65 world points.
In the bullpen it was a four-way tie for the high-marked bull of the event. Lawton (Big Rafter Rodeo), Little Richard (Big Rafter Rodeo), Peep Show (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) and Sugar Boom Boom (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G) were all marked 44 points for their trips in Toledo.
The Velocity Tour next travels to Denver, Colorado for the Denver PBR Chute Out at the National Western Stock Show on Jan. 14-16.
