Mason Taylor (Maypearl, Texas) won the second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event of his career Saturday night at the Rochester Rumble inside Blue Cross Arena.
The young Texan continued his hot streak following his first career win two weeks ago at the Wilkes-Barre Classic. In Round 1 of the evening Taylor covered Zipline (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 87 points. In the championship round, he recorded the highest score of the night with an 88-point ride aboard Movin’ On Up (J Bar W). The win earned him 120 world points and a $7,300 paycheck.
Each RVT winner gets a chance to compete on the PBR’s premier series. Taylor has earned an invite to The 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast Ariat Inviational presented by Cooper Tires in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 6-7.
Devon Weaver (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) finished second, collecting a paycheck for $4,850 along with 70 world points. He was propelled to the runner-up finish compliments of his 85.5-point aboard Good Googa Mooga (J Bar W) and later Fox Hole (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) in the championship round for 83 points.
Third place went to Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas), for making the 8 on Blue on Black (J Bar W) in Round 1 for 87.5 points. Despite being dispatched from Lights Out (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) in the championship round, Wing earned $3,300 and 40 world points.
Native New Yorker Carlos Garcia (Hammondsport, New York) finished fourth, backed by an 87-point effort on Good Eye (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in the opening round. He leaves Rochester with $2,150 and 20 world points.
In a tie to round out the Top 5 Cristiano Figueredo (Sapucaia do Norte, Minas Gerais, Brazil) and Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico) recorded matching 86-point rides in the opening round. Contreras covered Sleepy Shawn (Painted Pony Championship Rodeo) followed by Figuerdo’s ride aboard Sea Bass (J Bar W). The pair both earned $850 and 12.5 world points.
A pair of bovine athletes owned by Mike Miller Bucking Bulls took home the top spots for the evening. Good Eye and Zipline both received 43.50 bull scores after their incredible outs with Garcia and Taylor.
The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour next travels for the Huntington Invitational, in Huntington, West Virginia. The two-day event begins on Friday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET, and concludes on Saturday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
