Pacheco and Marcilio split Salinas victory

World leader Kaique Pacheco and Alex Marcilio were victorious at the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Bulls of Summer event in Salinas, California, picking up important world standings points.

By PBR

PUEBLO, Colo. – World leader Kaique Pacheco turned down a re-ride option in the first round and then converted on a re-ride opportunity in the championship round to tie for the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Bulls of Summer victory with Alex Marcilio on Saturday night.

Pacheco snuck into the championship round with a 79-point ride on Desperado after deciding to turn down his re-ride option. He was then awarded a re-ride when his first bull in the championship round, Chile Pepper, fell down and caused Pacheco to buck off just past 5 seconds.

The 23-year-old next rode Psycho Blue for 83 points to tie with Marcilio for the event lead (2-for-2, 162 points).

Marcilio began his night with 82 points on Slappy in Round 1 and then turned down his re-ride in the championship round after riding Smoke Show for 80 points to jump ahead of Dener Barbosa for the event lead.

Pacheco and Marcilio’s gamble paid off when they watched Marco Eguchi (3.96 seconds on Legit), Jorge Valdiviezo (disqualification in the bucking chute), and Alisson de Souza (3.37 seconds on Spotted Panther) all fail to surpass them.

The two winners picked up an important 95 points toward the world standings.

Pacheco extends his lead on No. 2 Claudio Montanha Jr. in the world standings to 116.67 points.

Montanha failed to qualify for the championship round after deciding to take a re-ride option following a 79-point ride on Smalls in Round 1. He was later bucked off by Blowing Smoke (5.71 seconds).

Marcilio moved up to 25th in the standings after beginning the event in 28th.

Barbosa finished in third place for 30 world points.

The 24-year-old had turned down a re-ride option in Round 1 following a 74-point ride on Samson. He then covered Uncle Fester for 84 points, which went on to be the winning ride of the championship round.

Souza won Round 1 with an 88-point ride on Pearl Pistol and finished in fourth place for 20 world points. The No. 37 rider in the world standings is within 105 points of No. 35 Emilio Resende.

Valdiviezo (1-for-2) finished in fifth place for 15 world points, while Eguchi (1-for-2) placed sixth for 10 points and moved up two spots in the world standings to No. 30.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour next heads to Window Rock, Arizona, for the PBR Bucking on The Rez, presented by Najavo Parks and Recreation Department, on Sept. 4. Fans can watch the event exclusively on RidePass beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
