PUEBLO, Colo. – “The PBR and rodeo have been a huge part of my life. So of course they are also a huge part of my life story.”
Moe Bandy has spent the last year writing his amazing life story. His autobiography ‘Lucky Me’ is available now for purchase at www.moebandybook.com , www.amazon.com or call (615) 804-0361.
“The PRCA and the PBR have been so good to me over the years,” said Bandy. “I have so many great friends in the rodeo and PBR. And I tried to include as many of those as I possibly could in my book.”
‘Lucky Me’ details how Bandy’s love for the sport began when he was a young teenager.
“I loved bull riding and bareback bronc riding,” he said. “But my brother, Mike, was in a whole other league. Of course Mike went on to become a champion bull rider. Mike was also a champion when it came to doing crazy things! And I tell a lot of stories about Mike in the book.”
Both Moe and Mike Bandy were inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2007. They were also honored by the PRCA in 2016.
“So many of my country music career highlights also involved the rodeo. I have been honored to sing the National Anthem for the PBR at Madison Square Garden. And one night I will never forget came when Joe Stampley and I performed at the big rodeo at the Houston Astrodome. We set the Thursday night attendance record. And that same night, my brother Mike won the bull riding competition.”
Moe Bandy’s country music accomplishments are many, including 10 No. 1 songs, 40 Top-10 hits, 5 Gold Records and numerous ACM and CMA awards.
“I have had a lot of hits,” said Bandy. “But of course my signature song is ‘Bandy the Rodeo Clown.’ And that song led to many, many people thinking that I had actually been a rodeo clown. But I tell the entire truth about that in my autobiography.”
Former First Lady Barbara Bush wrote the foreword for the book.
Mrs. Bush added, “Until I read his book, I am not sure I ever knew Moe wanted to be a rodeo cowboy. Thank heavens he decided that was a rather tough way to make a living!”
