BIG SKY, Mont. – Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) was the center of attention after winning Round 1 of the Big Sky PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event Friday night.

The No. 8 ranked bull rider in the world took the lead in Big Sky after a 90.5-ride on Red Dawn (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) in Round 1. Wing also earned an extra $5,000 check after covering Friday night’s Bounty Bull, Red Sails In The Sunset (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls), for 90 points.

After accepting the check, Wing announced that he will donate $1,000 to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Big Sky.

Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington), Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana), Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, Australia), and Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) are also in the mix for the victory this weekend following qualified rides in Round 1.

Kolbaba slotted into second place after covering Moldy (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) for 87 points. The No. 3 ranked bull rider in the world has been consistent throughout the season with four wins between the Velocity Tour and Built Ford Tough Series.

Triplett and Richardson tied for third place in Round 1 with matching 86.5-point rides. Triplett, currently ranked No. 7 in the world standings, reached 8 seconds aboard The Kraken (Dakota Rodeo - Chad Berger / Clay Struve / Ken Barnhard).

Meanwhile, Richardson continued his torrid summer with his own 86.5-point ride on Chantilly Lace (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve).

Livingston rounded out the Top 5 after covering Snitch (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) for 86 points.

Round 2 and the championship round in Big Sky will once again be streamed in 360˚ and Virtual Reality courtesy of a partnership between PBR and Ultracast starting at 7 p.m. MT. The Ultracast App is available for iOS and Android devices and can be found in the App Store or the Ultracast website (http://www.ultracast.com/app).

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
