Triplett wins Brendon Clark Invitational

Matt Triplett went 3-for-3 to win the Brendon Clark Invitational in Newcastle, Australia, this weekend.

Newcastle, Australia – Matt Triplett took home his second 2017 PBR Australia belt buckle after being the only cowboy to go 3-for-3 at the 7th annual Brendon Clark Invitational this weekend.

Triplett capped off his winning performance with a massive 90.75-point ride on Acid Rain. The ride is the highest-scored ride of the 2017 PBR Australia Cup season.

The 25-year-old began the event with 85.75 points on Coors Light. He then went on to win Round 2 with 85.5 points aboard Timm’s Gravity.

“I couldn’t be happier about Matt taking home the buckle,” Clark said. “I know he’s been trying to get back into the riding form he was in 2015 before he got injured and this win will catapult him right to the top of the standings going into the new 2017 season.”

Clark, who is known as Australia’s $1 million cowboy, returned home for his namesake event with his wife, Allison, and son, Casyn.

Triplett previously won the Tamworth Invitational two weeks ago and earned 160 points toward the 2017 PBR world standings. He was 6-for-8 in four PBR Australia events.

Sonny Schafferius (2-for-3, 173.5 points), 2016 PBR Australia champion Cody Heffernan (2-for-3, 167.75 points), Ian Molan (2-for-3 166.75 points) and Josh Birks (1-for-3, 88.75 points) rounded out the Top 5 at the Brendon Clark Invitational.

Birks was an injury replacement for Roy Dunn and won Round 1 with an emphatic 88.75 points on Bull’s On Point.

Acid Rain’s stock contractor Robert Bunn took home a Montana Silversmith belt buckle with the highest bull score of the night (44.75 points).
