DES MOINES, Iowa – Ryan Dirteater helped himself to a Round 1 victory on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena during the first day of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Des Moines Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires. The win propelled Dirteater to eighth in the world standings.
Dirteater earned the win with an 88-point ride on Milky Jones (Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team). He earned 100 points towards the PBR world standings as he won his second Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) round of the season.
Mexican bull rider Jorge Valdiviezo continued to make the most of his arrival on the BFTS by earning second place in the round after riding Shoot Out the Lights (K-C/Josie McElroy Bucking Bulls) for 87.25 points. Valdiviezo earned 60 world points.
Rubens Barbosa turned in an 85.75-point ride on Mr. Big Stuff (K-C Bucking Bulls) and took third place on the night, picking up 50 points in the world standings.
Joao Ricardo Vieira sits in fourth place with an 85.5-point ride on Cowtown Slinger (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve). Vieira picked up 40 points in the world standings and is now just 300 points behind current world No. 1 J.B. Mauney. Mauney failed to cover Justified (Bailey Pro Rodeo) in the last ride of the night.

Veteran Kasey Hayes held the lead in the round most of the night but settled for fifth place with an 84.5-point trip aboard Secret Agent (Bailey Pro Rodeo). Hayes secured 30 points towards the world standings.
Cooper Davis rounded out the Top 7 with an 83-point trip on Comfortably Numb (Bailey Pro Rodeo). Davis pocketed five points towards the world standings and has now ridden four of his last six bulls.
The top bull riders in the world will return to Wells Fargo Arena Sunday afternoon for Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round starting at 1:30 p.m. CT. CBS Sports Network will air Round 2 and the championship round at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 24.

The Des Moines Invitational is the 15th event on the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The season will consist of 26 stops, traveling to such cities as Chicago, New York, Anaheim, Calif., and Dallas. It will climax with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 when the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most world standings points during the season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus.

BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
