PUEBLO, Colo. – Chad VanAmburg (Archdale, North Carolina) competed in his first event since suffering injuries in a car crash in 2015 and came away with the victory at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Touring Pro Division (TPD) at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio on Jan. 8-9.
VanAmburg took first and second place. He earned 60 points toward the PBR world standings along with $4,985.07. He also took second place on his double entry which earned him 30 world points and $3,799.81. He was the only rider to go 2-for-2 in the event as he did it with both entries.
Per TPD rules, a bull rider may enter a Touring Pro Division event as many times as they choose; some riders have been known to enter two, or even three times. VanAmburg chose to enter twice, successfully utilizing both spots. He rode to dual 84.5 point rides in Round 1 and the championship round for first place and then had rides of 84.5 and 82.5 for his second place finish.
Adam Miller (Dundee, Ohio) came in third off an 85-point ride in Round 1 to earn 20 world points and $2,300.80. Ryan Miller (Waterloo, Indiana) had an 84.5-point ride to earn third place to come away with 15 world standings points along with $1,394.43.
Colt Galven (Lenoir City, Tennessee) and Levi Hershberger (Winesburg, Ohio) tied for fifth place place after rides of 83.5 points each. Each rider earned 7.50 world standings points along with $488.05.
Cody Martin (Trinity, North Carolina) was the only rider to go 2-for-2 capturing the win during the two-day event at the Rainsville Bull Bash event at the Northeast Alabama Agri-Business Center on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9.
Martin, who had scores of 84 and 81.5 points, took home $3,902.92 along with 60 PBR world standings points.
Jay Miller (Liberty, South Carolina) finished in second place with an 88.5-point ride. He earned $3,175.26 and 30 world points. Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) was third with a score of 88 points, winning $2,182.99 and 20 world standings points. In fourth place was Winston Lopez (Bandera, Texas) with an 87-point ride for $1,521.84 and 15 world standings points while Jorge Valdiviezo (La Mision, Mexico) was fifth, winning $555.67 and 10 world points.
The Touring Pro Division will next be in action Jan. 15 at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas. Brant Atwood (Pampa, Texas), Dustin Ratchford (Wynnewood, Oklahoma) and Keyshawn Whitehorse (The Woodlands, Texas) are some of the riders that will be competing in the event.
