2010 PBR World Champion Renato Nunes announces retirement

2010 World Champion Renato Nunes announced his retirement following his ride at the World Finals on Saturday night.

By PBR

LAS VEGAS – Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil), the 2010 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion, announced his retirement Saturday during Round 4 of the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.

After 1.69 seconds atop Gangster’s Wildside (Riley & Beckett Buckings Bulls), Nunes informed PBR officials that he wanted to make his retirement official.

“It’s time,†he said. “But I will miss everyone and definitely the fans.â€

Nunes joined the PBR in 2005, earned his first event win in 2007, and three years later pocketed more than $1.59 million as the 2010 PBR World Champion. He captured 10 event wins, 44 Top-5 finishes and 87 Top-10 finishes throughout his 10-year career, and totaled nearly $3 million in career earnings.

A 95.75-point ride on Chicken on a Chain (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) during the St. Louis event in February 2008 marked the highest ride score of a career that included 10 PBR World Finals qualifications.

Performing what became his signature backflip from the chutes with every qualified ride, Nunes became a quick fan favorite. He will return to Brazil with his wife and children Andreia, Luis and Renata following the PBR World Finals.
