PUEBLO, Colo. – At the J.W. Hart PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenge BlueDEF Velocity Tour (BDVT) event in Decatur, Texas, 2004 PBR World Champion and Decatur local Mike Lee earned the victory, going 2-for-2 in the event on Saturday, May 30. This was Lee’s third time winning the event in his 14-year career.
Lee earned 80 points toward the world standings with his first BDVT win of the season. With an 89.75-point effort on Pearl Harbor (Boyd and Floyd Bucking Bulls) in the championship round, Lee finished with 177 points overall in the aggregate, taking home $6,529.63.
Alexandre Cardozo (Indaiatuba, Brazil) was the only other rider to go 2-for-2 with a total of 160.25 points for a second place finish. He declined the option for a reride in Round 1, sticking with his 73.5-point effort, following it up with 86.75 points in the championship round. He earned 50 points toward the world standings along with a $4,408.03 pay check.
Neil Holmes (Prairieview, Texas) entered the championship round second in the event after his 88-point ride in Round 1. Holmes finished in third place, earning 30 world points and a paycheck of $2,653.63.Â
Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) and Marco Eguchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) rounded out the Top 5. Wing finished in fourth place and earned 20 world points along with $1,837.63, while Eguchi earned 15 points toward the standings and $891.07 with his fifth-place finish.
The BlueDEF Velocity Tour will next be in Moline, Illinois, at iWireless Center on Saturday, June 13, starting at 7 p.m.Â
On the Touring Pro Division schedule, the Jeff Robinson Invitational in Asheville, North Carolina, took place at the WNC Ag Center on May 29-30. Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) participated in just his second event since fracturing his left ankle during the Built Ford Tough Series event in Oklahoma City in January. He used rides of 84.5 points and 88.5 points to take the victory and earn $5,507.98 along with 60 world points.
Carlos Garcia (Hammons, New York) and Billy Robinson (Galax, Virginia) tied for second place each with rides of 86.5 points. They both took home $2,684.27 and earned 25 world points each. Colton Coppley (Welcome, North Carolina) was the fourth-place finisher with 85.5 points. Michael Lane (North Tazewell, Virginia) and Faircloth tied for fifth place, each earning 7.5 world points. Per TPD rules, a bull rider may enter an event as many times as he chooses. Some riders have been known to enter two, or even three times.
On May 30 at the Shane Proctor Invitational in Tonascet, Washington, Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington) covered both of his bulls as he finished in first place with a total ride score of 164.5 points, earning $3,147.44 along with 60 points towards the PBR world standings.
Brady Oleson (Blackfoot, Idaho) finished in second place just two points behind Kolbaba with a total of 162.5 points. He took home $2,174.60 and earned 30 world points. In third place was Zac Peterson (Velva, North Dakota) with 161.5 points earning 20 world points. In fourth, fifth and sixth place were Cody Ford (Stanfield, Oregon), Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) and Dallee Mason (Caldwell, Idaho) who each earned 15, 10 and 5 world points, respectively. Â
On June 5-6, the Touring Pro division will be in Lima, Ohio, as the Allen County Fairgrounds hosts the Potash Lima Invitational TPD event. Reese Cates (El Dorado, Arkansas), Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) and Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina) are just some of the riders that will be there.
The 10th annual Dusty Gliko Bull Riding Challenge at the Belt Rodeo Grounds in Belt, Montana, on June 6 will feature John Smith (Malta, Montana), Tyler Taillon (Great Falls, Montana) and BFTS rider Stetson Lawrence (Trenton, North Dakota).
