CHICAGO – Extending his record ride streak to 19 during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round at the Chicago Invitational at Allstate Arena Sunday, Silvano Alves was the only man to go 3-for-3 on the weekend, capturing the win and more than $43,000.
The three-time reigning PBR World Champion covered Flint for 87.75 points to win the round and notch his first-event victory of the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series season.
“Flint is a good bull,†Alves said. “I rode him last year one time and knew if I did again, I could get a good score.â€
With this victory, Alves earned 500 PBR world points, which moved him to No. 1 in the world standings.
Matt Triplett, who led the event after two rounds of competition, landed a second-place finish, going 2-for-3 on the weekend, including the first 90-point ride of the season with a 90.75-point effort on Delco. The 370 PBR world points he earned for his performance moved him into the No. 3 position in the PBR world standings. Â
Chase Outlaw took third with a total event score of 172.5 points, while Shane Proctor placed fourth with 171.5 points. Cody Nance landed his second Top-5 finish in as many weeks with 171.25 points.
Cooper Tires Brown Sugar and Who Dey tied for the Salem Nationalease High-Marked Bull award in Chicago, both earning 45.25 points during their respective championship-round outs.
Next on the 2015 BFTS is a stop at Madison Square Garden in New York on Jan. 16-18. The event takes place at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 16; 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 17; and at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 18.
PBR LIVE will stream Round 1 on Friday night in real time at pbr.com/live. Saturday’s Round 2 will be a tape-delayed broadcast on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 17. CBS will air the PBR’s first 15/15 Bucking Battle of the season – where the world’s Top 15 bull riders will battle the Top 15 bulls in the world – at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 18. Round 3 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will air on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. ET later that evening.
The Chicago Invitational was the second of 27 stops on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The series will travel to New York; Anaheim, California; and Dallas on its 18-state tour, culminating with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the 2015 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most PBR world points during the 2015 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted $10,000 World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus.Â
