PUEBLO, Colo. – PBR announcers Brandon Bates and Clint Adkins will team up for the eighth year to bring all of the behind-the-scenes and inside information to fans live, in-arena, when the Professional Bull Riders 2014 Built Ford Tough World Finals takes place Oct. 22-26 at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Joining the duo will be announcer Matt West and Flint Rasmussen, exclusive entertainer of the PBR and barrel man extraordinaire, who will make his 16th appearance.
Being selected to work the richest bull riding event in the world is a prestigious honor, especially when the PBR bull riders themselves make the decision. This year, the Top 35 bull riders in the world voted Frank Newsom, Shorty Gorham, Jesse Byrne and Cody Webster as the “secret service†of the season-ending event, the 2014 PBR World Finals bullfighters.
This will be Newsom’s 10th consecutive World Finals appearance and 12th overall. He has been a member of the PBR Dickies Bullfighters for 16 seasons. Gorham has fought on the Built Ford Tough Series since 2006 and been voted to World Finals duty nine times. The only Canadian bullfighter to ever be selected to fight at the World Finals, Byrne will be making his sixth appearance in Las Vegas in October for the PBR.
After a 2013 debut at the Wrangler NFR (National Finals Rodeo), Webster will make his debut at the PBR World Finals this year. He is a protégé of Newsom and has been fighting bulls since 2011. His dream was to fight for both the NFR and the PBR World Finals by the time he was 20. He is now 22.
Jeff Shearer, Allan Jordan, Lane Foltyn, Royd Doyal and Shawn Ramirez will be the men behind the scores as the official judges of the World Finals. Shearer, a 15-year veteran PBR judge will serve as the replay official, deciding close-calls and rider protests. Allan Jordan and Foltyn will score rides up-close-and-personally from the chutes as Ramirez and Doyal tally points from the sidelines.
The bull riding action starts at 6 p.m. PT each evening, Wednesday, Oct. 22-25 and at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. It will air live on CBS Sports Network at 9 p.m. ET, Wednesday – Saturday and at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday.Â
