Mauney considered the favorite to win Last Cowboy Standing

MGM Resorts International Race and Sports released odds for The Last Cowboy Standing, which have 2013 World Champion J.B. Mauney favored to win the $100,000 event title.

LAS VEGAS ― On the eve of the Professional Bull Riders Last Cowboy Standing IV, MGM Resorts International Race and Sports released odds which have J.B. Mauney, the reigning PBR World Champion, favored to win the $100,000 title.

The Last Cowboy Standing features the Top 50 bull riders in a progressive-elimination event, where making a qualified ride is all that counts. Of the 50 riders competing on Friday, 25 will advance to Round 2 on Saturday and continue to ride as long as they make the 8-second buzzer. At the end of the night, the last cowboy standing will be declared the winner. 

Mauney’s odds of winning the overall title have been set at 5-2, with Joao Ricardo Vieira coming in at 4-1.  Renato Nunes, the 2010 PBR World Champion, and two-time defending Last Cowboy Standing winner Silvano Alves sit at 5-1. Coming in at 7-1 are Cody Nance and 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi.

The Last Cowboy Standing takes place Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, at Mandalay Bay Events Center. The action starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.com, the Mandalay Bay Events Center Box Office or by calling 800-745-3000.

Friday’s Round 1 will air live on CBS Sports Network at 11 p.m. ET. Round 2 and the final rounds will air on CBS Network Television on Sunday, May 11, at 4 p.m. ET.

BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.

The Last Cowboy Standing is the last event of the first half of the 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough Series. The series will take a three-month hiatus and resume Aug. 15-16 in Tulsa, Okla. at the BOK Center. On Oct. 22-26 it will culminate with the 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals taking place at Thomas & Mack Center, where the 2014 PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded a $1 million purse.
