ST. LOUIS ― PBR St. Louis: A Cowboy Bar opened today to much fanfare and celebration as the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) was on hand in Ballpark Village to welcome the seventh PBR bar in the country. The grand opening also kicked off the ticket sales for the PBR’s return to Scottrade Center, Feb. 13-15, 2015.
“We’re pretty thrilled about this new PBR bar,†said Sean Gleason, COO of the Professional Bull Riders. “St. Louis is a special city and Ballpark Village a world-class establishment; this district is an ideal location for PBR St. Louis. Our goal with the PBR St. Louis was to create a concept that captures both the electricity that is PBR as well as the warm camaraderie that exists between our patrons at our events. The bar does both and does so in spectacular fashion. The Professional Bull Riders will look forward to stopping by every time we’re in town.â€
The St. Louis Cardinals, The Cordish Companies and PBR announced this newest location in February 2013. The first PBR bar location opened its doors in 2008 at the Power & Light District in Kansas City, Mo., and has since launched venues in Baltimore, Houston, Hampton, Va., Philadelphia and Louisville, Ken., making PBR bars one of the hottest and fastest growing concepts in the country.
Each location features its own unique, high-quality design, but with shared attractions including a large dance floor, a soft-seating lounge area, private outdoor balconies, multiple bars and the world’s meanest mechanical bull as a show-piece element to the club. PBR St. Louis takes this design to a new level and promises to be an eclectic combination of “cowboy cool†meets “urban chic,†spanning 6,000 square feet. PBR St. Louis will bring an authentic country experience to Ballpark Village and has agreed that this will be the only venue within the St. Louis region.
“The Cordish Companies and the St. Louis Cardinals are proud to partner with the Professional Bull Riders to bring world class entertainment offerings to Ballpark Village. With the opening of PBR St. Louis we have done just that,†said Blake Cordish, vice president of The Cordish Companies. “PBR is one of the fastest growing, most exciting and popular sports in the world. We are thrilled to welcome PBR to St. Louis with a concept that captures the appeal of the sport and the passion of its fans in this great city. We look forward to creating many exciting experiences for St. Louis and we are confident that PBR St. Louis will be an anchor attraction of Ballpark Village for years to come.â€Â
Managing PBR St. Louis partner Mike Rostek added, “More time and capital have gone into this PBR bar than any preceding it. It is truly a showpiece for the brand.â€Â
When the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) visits Scottrade Center, PBR St. Louis will host the official after-parties.Â
The BFTS returns to St. Louis for the 18th year Feb. 13-15, with the Top 35 bull riders in the world going up against the best bovine athletes weighing in upwards of 2,000 pounds during a three-day event. Fans are guaranteed an action-packed, heart-stopping experience every time a rider nods his head to attempt to beat the 8-second clock.
Tickets, starting as low at $15, are now available at the Scottrade Center box office, www.Ticketmaster.com and by telephone at (800) 745-3000.
This season a near capacity crowd watched as 2013 PBR Rookie of the Year Joao Ricardo Vieira rode Smackdown for 90.75 points in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to nail down his first win of the 2014 season. The same excitement and enthusiasm is expected for the 2015 event, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early.
The PBR has awarded over $2 million in prize money in the event’s 18 years in St. Louis. Four former PBR World Champions: Adriano Moraes (1997, 1998, 2004), Chris Shivers (2000, 2001), Justin McBride (2003, 2005) and Guilherme Marchi (2011), as well as Ring of Honor member Ross Coleman (2008) and reigning Rookie of the Year Joao Ricardo Vieira, have won the title.
St. Louis will be one of 27 stops on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. A tour that will also travel to New York, Chicago, Anaheim, Calif., and Dallas, culminating with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2015 season, the 2015 PBR World Champion, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus.
