Weekly TPD Update: North Carolina native Gage Gay captured a PBR Touring Pro Division win at The RMEF Big Bull Tour presented by Lucas Oil in Asheville, N.C., last weekend.

By PBR

PUEBLO, Colo. ― After an outstanding 91-point effort aboard Delco (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls), Gage Gay brought his home state to its feet as he captured a PBR Touring Pro Division win at The RMEF Big Bull Tour presented by Lucas Oil in Asheville, N.C., last weekend.

There were only six qualified rides from four riders at the event.

In Round 1, Wagner Luciano was the only rider to make a qualified ride with 87 points. He and Gay tied for first in the second round, both earning 87.5 points. They were the only riders with two qualified rides in the event.

Gay went on to post the only score of the third round and his 91-point effort clinched the victory. He earned a total score of 178.5 points for the weekend and pocketed $4,788.26.

This was Gay's first solo TPD event win. He had previously shared event wins in Wheeling, W. Va., in late March and again in Wharton, Texas, in early May.

The PBR Built Ford Tough Series No. 2 man Shane Proctor was in attendance, but he was unable to make a qualified ride during the event.  Proctor does, however, still maintain his second place position in the world standings, 44.12 points ahead of Marco Eguchi

Last weekend also brought a victory to 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee in Phillipsburg, Kan. Lee finished second in the first round with an 82.5-point effort while Carrson Hiatt won the round with 85.5 points. In the short go, Lee earned 84.5 points for a total score of 167 points and $3,930.40 in prize money.

The Lucas Oil Touring Pro Division will visit three cities this weekend: Decatur, Texas, San Antonio, Texas, and Lima, Ohio.

The J.W. Hart PBR Challenge will live up to its name on Saturday, June 8 in Decatur, Texas, at 8 p.m. ET. Hart has challenged Pistol Robinson to ride 2011 World Champion Bull Bushwacker. Robinson bet Hart $1,000 he could make a qualified ride aboard one of the BFTS's toughest bulls, and Hart responded by giving him 40-1 odds. If Robinson succeeds, he will win $40,000. Other riders scheduled to appear include fan favorites Cord McCoy, J.B. Mauney, Jory Markiss, Chase Outlaw and Douglas Duncan.

The Brent Thurman Memorial will take place in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, June 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET and will showcase great riders such as Markus Mariluch and Brant Atwood.

The Bud Light PBR Lima Invitational presented by RMEF Big Bull Tour will begin Friday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET and continue on Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 in Lima, Ohio.  It will include top names such as Cody Nance, Billy Robinson, Carrson Hiatt, Kasey Hayes and Matt Bohon.
