PBR announces Ford will remain title sponsor

Industry leader will award a $1 million bonus and a Ford truck to the World Champion.

By PBR

PUEBLO, Colo. ― The Professional Bull Riders announced that Ford Trucks will remain the title sponsor of the elite Built Ford Tough Series tour that features the Top 35 bull riders in the world competing against the toughest bucking bulls.

The partnership includes television billboards, as well as in-arena and chute signage, PA announcements, video board spots and tickets.

Ford and the PBR work together to create unique videos and social media campaigns to encourage PBR fans to sign up for their opportunity to win a trip to the Built Ford Tough World Finals, and the chance to win a new Ford truck. The campaign has awarded six Ford trucks since it began. Details surrounding the new campaign for 2013 can be found at ClashOfTheCowboys.com.

"Ford has been an incredible partner of the PBR since 2000, and we are thrilled to announce that our partnership will continue," said PBR Chairman and CEO Jim Haworth. "Ford has become synonymous with the PBR as our title sponsor, and like the PBR, epitomizes toughness and the western lifestyle."

Ford became the "Official Vehicle of the PBR" in 2000, and became the title sponsor of the elite tour in 2003, awarding the first $1 million bonus and a Ford Truck to PBR World Champion Chris Shivers. Ford has awarded $10 million and 10 trucks to PBR World Champions.

"The toughness of both the cowboys and bulls exemplifies the brand DNA of our Ford F-Series Trucks," said Ford Trucks Experiential Marketing Manager Kevin Schebil. "We feel our relationship with PBR directly contributes to F-Series sales success representing 36 consecutive years of sales leadership."

The PBR will celebrate 20 years of competition with the 2013 season. The BFTS will make 26 stops in 18 states, beginning at world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York on Jan. 4-6. The season will conclude Oct. 23-27 in Las Vegas with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded a $1 million bonus. The richest bull riding event in the world, the World Finals has a total purse of more than $2 million.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.

PBR broadcasts reach more than half a billion households in 50 nations and territories around the world, and more than 2.5 million fans attend live events each year. PBR has awarded more than $120 million dollars in prize money over 20 years of competition, including a $1 million dollar bonus to the PBR World Champion each year.
