The PBR and Wrangler® Western Wear – the iconic American denim brand and leading manufacturer of Western apparel – join forces to bring the Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign to Charlotte, N.C. The kickoff of the campaign will be on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Troy-Bilt Invitational Presented by Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse.
The inspiration for this inaugural PBR breast cancer awareness month came from one of the PBR’s very own fans – cancer survivor Linda Wells. As she was going through treatments for breast cancer, Wells saw a story about fan-favorite J.B. Mauney on www.PBR.com. In the story, Mauney discussed the ups and downs of his bull riding career and explained his “one jump at a time” approach to the sport. This quickly became Wells’ mantra, as she took each day through treatment and recovery “one jump at a time.” She will be celebrating her one-year post-recovery mark at the Charlotte event.
At each Built Ford Tough Series event in October – Charlotte; Hartford, Conn.; and Columbus, Ohio – the Saturday-night performance will be a designated “Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night. All fans, staff and athletes the event will be encouraged to wear pink.
PBR fans attending any of the BFTS events in October can purchase an exclusive PBR Wrangler "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" adult T-shirt for $15 or a youth T-shirt for $10. These commemorative shirts can only be found at the Built Ford Tough Series events during the month of October. Half of the proceeds from all pink-shirt sales will benefit the Cancer Research Foundation.
The PBR’s elite Built Ford Tough Series will visit Charlotte for the Troy-Bilt Invitational presented by Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. For two nights only, the Top 40 bull riders in the world will take on the toughest bulls in the PBR for some of the best bull riding on earth.
