PBR returns to Iowa for third year

Bull riding's best invade Wells Fargo Arena for two nights only

By PBR

Iowa fans will experience the best bull riding action in the world when the Professional Bull Riders return to Des Moines for the third year in a row, on May 6 and 7. The PBR’s elite Built Ford Tough Series will explode into Wells Fargo Arena for two days only for the 2011 Des Moines Invitational. Tickets are on sale now, starting at just $10, and can be purchased online at www.Dahlstickets.com, at the Wells Fargo Arena box office or by calling (866) 55DAHLS.

Luke Snyder, $200,000 winner of the PBR’s first-ever progressive-elimination event – April’s “Last Cowboy Standing” in Las Vegas – will be in Des Moines defending his bragging rights. Midwest cowboy Dustin Elliott, who in 2010 was one of only a handful of riders ever to qualify for the PBR World Finals and the PRCA Finals in the same year, will also be at Wells Fargo arena taking on the rankest bulls on the planet. Former World Champions Chris Shivers and Guilherme Marchi and 2010 rookie of the year Silvano Alves will be also be competing in Des Moines, along with 2011 Iron Cowboy Colby Yates and Georgia superstar Sean Willingham.

Bull riding at Wells Fargo Arena begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of the 40 riders will ride on both days. Following Round 1 on Friday, the riders with the 10 highest scores will each compete with one more bull. Following Round 3 on Saturday, the riders with the 10 highest cumulative scores will advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, where they will each compete with one more bull. The overall event winner will be the rider with the highest combined score from all four rounds.

Fans and curious newcomers can catch all of the action from Des Moines on VERSUS on Saturday, May 7, starting at 4:00 p.m. ET, and again on Sunday, May 8, at 4:00 p.m. ET. Check local listings for details.

The nationally televised BFTS makes 28 stops in 23 states. The season began at world-famous Madison Square Garden, and culminates Oct. 26-30 in Las Vegas at the richest bull riding event in the world, the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. The Finals is where the 2011 PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the $1 million Built Ford Tough bonus.
