The 2010 Rookie of the Year winner is Silvano Alves of Pilar do Sul, Brazil. After helping Brazil win the World Cup in April, Alves joined the nationally-televised Built Ford Tough Series. He won his first event in Nampa, Idaho, and went on to post victories in Memphis, Tenn., and Uncasville, Conn., while taking home $319,980.
Bones (Tom Teague Bucking Bulls LLC) captured his second World Champion Bull title. He also won the Mikel Moreno Bull of the World Finals for having the highest cumulative bull score during the Finals, 92.5 points. Bones, who also won both awards in 2008, bucked off J.B. Mauney, of Mooresville, N.C., in 4.0 seconds in Round 2, earning a score of 45.25 points. He then dispatched 2004 World Champion Guilherme Marchi in 2.0 seconds in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday, earning a score of 47.25 points.
The recipient of the Lane Frost/Brent Thurman Award, which is awarded to the rider with the highest-marked ride at the Finals, is Valdiron de Oliveira of Aparecida de Goiania, Brazil.
