The Professional Bull Riders (PBR), Inc. will head to Greenville, S.C. for the first time in five years on September 10-11 for the 2010 Greenville Invitational brought to you locally by Pike Energy Solutions. The world's top 40 bull riders will take over the Bi-Lo Center for two nights only. Fans can anticipate seeing Carolina favorites Shane Proctor and J.B. Mauney, both from Mooresville, N.C., along with fellow east coast rider Sean Willingham of Summerville, Ga. Also expected to compete in Greenville are current top-ranked Brazilian rider Renato Nunes; No. 2 in the BFTS standings Austin Meier of Kinta, Okla.; and Colgate, Okla. resident Ryan McConnel.
The Greenville Invitational, brought to you locally by Pike Energy Solutions, will consist of three rounds of competition. The scores from rounds one and two are combined, with the top 15 riders advancing to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round after intermission on Saturday. The rider with the highest total score on three bulls will be declared the winner.
Greenville is also the first of five bonus rounds for the Top 10 riders in the world standings. Following the first round at each of the last five regular season BFTS events, the Top 10 riders will have the opportunity to ride an extra bull for additional BFTS points.
The first 25 events of the 2010 BFTS season have produced 17 different winners, with 11 riders in the Top 20 earning an event win. Meier has the most wins with five while Nunes has three and Valdiron de Oliveira and rookie Silvano Alves, each have two wins. The standings lead has changed nine times and six different riders have been ranked first. Mauney has been first three different times while Meier and Nunes have each been on top twice.
