Paulo Lima (Bezerros, PE, Brazil) took home the Round 1 win at the U.S. Air Force Invitational after staying on Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls' Segs the Juice for 88.5 points. Close behind Lima in a tie for second and third place were Brendon Clark (Morpeth, Australia) and Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kan.). Clark rode Sooner Shaker (D&H Cattle Company) while Hayes stayed on Outa Da Blue (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo), both recieving 87.25 points for their efforts.
Closing out the top five in Round 1 in another tie were 2009 Rookie of the Year Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) and New Mexico cowboy L.J. Jenkins (Texico, N.M.). Sharing fourth and fifth place, Nance rode The Rookie (Davis/McManus and Shoemaker) and Jenkins stayed on Shortcut (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for 86.75 points.

The PBR is having the deepest title race in history. In the first half of the season there were nine lead changes, with six different riders on top of the standings, including Nunes, who is ranked first for the second time after his victory in Pueblo, Colo., in May. The first 21 events have produced 15 different winners, including Meier, who has won a season-leading four events and enters San Antonio ranked second, only 1,585.5 points behind Nunes.

Robson Palermo sprained his left wrist. He is doubtful for Round 2 tomorrow.
Valdiron de Oliveira bruised his right leg. He will compete in Round 2.
Robson Aragao bruised his back and is probable for tomorrow.
Edimundo Gomes sprained his right thumb (free hand). He will ride in Round 2.
