2009 PBR World Champion Bull Contenders Announced

By PBR

The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) are excited to announce the bulls who will compete for the title of 2009 PBR World Champion Bull.  In the past, five top animal athletes competed for the title, but for the first time in PBR history, eleven bulls will be competing for the coveted title.  Another first is that fans had the chance to vote in one of the contenders while the top 40 bull riders in the world voted for eight and PBR’s Livestock Director selected the final bull.

Reigning World Champion bull, Bones, owned by Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC, will try to defend the title that he claimed in 2008.  The last bull to successfully defend his World Champion title was Little Yellow Jacket, owned by Berger/Teague/Taupin Bucking Bulls, LLC, who won in 2002-2004.  Here are the bulls that will be competing for the title at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals:

Apollo, owned by Box K Cattle
Big Tex, owned by Dakota Rodeo/Clay Struve
Black Pearl, owned by Ravenscroft/Boyd-Floyd Bull Co.
Bones, owned by Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC
Chicken on a Chain, owned by Jeff Robinson/Mike Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy/Bar None*
Code Blue, owned by Walton & Wagoner/Berger & Struve
Crosswired, owned by D&H Cattle Co./Clifton Wiggins**
I’m A Gangster (aka Uncle Buck), owned by Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC
Major Payne, owned by Jeff Robinson/Bar None/Segs/SkyHawk Rugs/Red Knection**
Troubadour, owned by Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls
Voodoo Child, owned by Jeff Robinson/Beutler & Sons/Bar None/Cathy & Jason McNeely

*Selected by PBR fans
**Selected by PBR’s Livestock Director

The 2009 World Champion Bull will be determined by the bull that accumulates the highest total bull score during the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas.  The winner will be named on Sunday, November 8 after the final round of competition.

The PBR is the premier bull riding organization in the world, boasting contestants from the United States, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and Canada.
