Daisy Rookie of the Year Contender Jacoby Takes Round One in Ontario

Tune in for all of the non-stop action as the Dickies Invitational concludes on VERSUS.

By PBR

The 2009 Dickies Invitational brought the top 40 bull riders in the world to the Goldan State for stop no. 28 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour.  The world’s best bull riders took on some of the toughest bulls that PBR had to offer at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.  At the end of the Saturday night performance, 2009 Daisy Rookie of the Year contender Elliott Jacoby (Fredericksburg, Texas) rode the bull, Shotgun Willie, owned by Holman Bucking Bulls, for 88.75 points.  He collected a check for $2,730 as well as valuable qualifier dollars and points to the 2009 World Standings.

Taking second place in the round was Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who rode his bull, Tighty Whitey of Simpson and Dennis Bucking Bulls for 88.75 points.  Third place went to Kansas cowboy Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kan.) who scored 87 points on 4C’s Bucking Bulls’ Monkey Shine while 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) rode the bull, Hank, owned by 4C’s Bucking Bulls, for 86.5 points.  Rounding out fifth place was Rocky McDonald (Col. Juarez, MEX) who tamed Katie Parker’s bull, Mighty Whitey, for 86 points.

Due to his round two win at last weekend’s PFIWestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Mo., J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Dickies Invitational.  Because he did not make the eight second whistle on the bull, Chili, the stock contractor, Flying U/Cindy Rosser Bucking Bulls, took home the $5,000 bonus.  Due to his round one victory, Elliott Jacoby (Fredericksburg, Texas) will be eligible for the bonus during Sunday’s performance.

The 2009 Dickies Invitational continues tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete to see who will take home the coveted event title.  Catch all of the action when VERSUS’ airs round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round at 7 p.m. EST.
