PBR Honors Fallen U.S. Border Patrol Agent at San Antonio BFTS Event

By PBR

Fallen U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas was honored last weekend during the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event in San Antonio, Texas.

The PBR paid tribute by reserving a seat at the arena for Agent Rosas as two Border Patrol Honor Guard sentries stood by.  Placed upon the reserved seat was a pair of standard uniform boots, a duty belt, western hat, a rose and a pair of white gloves. During the event an announcement to those gathered in the arena honored Agent Rosas’ service and sacrifice.

Agent Rosas was shot and killed on July 23, 3009 near Campo, California, after responding to suspicious activity in an area notorious for alien drug smuggling.

“Everyone involved with the PBR is deeply saddened by the loss of Agent Rosas,” said Sean Gleason, PBR’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).  “Although we recognize and honor the United States Border Patrol at every event for the sacrifices they make, we continually hope that tragedy will not strike close to home.  Agent Rosas will be forever remembered by the PBR as a brave individual who gave his life to protect our freedoms.”

The event was held during the weekend of August 1-2 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The U.S. Border Patrol and PBR are proud partners as part of a robust recruiting effort that began May 2008.  Known as the “Official Federal Law Enforcement Officers of the PBR,” the U.S. Border Patrol recently held the entitlement to PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on July 17-19.
