Rosas killed in the line of duty, laid to rest today
By PBR
The PBR joins in mourning the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas, who was killed in the line of duty on July 23.
The married father of two was shot while conducting an investigation in a remote mountain region of Southern California. He became the first Border Patrol Agent to be killed by gunfire in 11 years.
“The Border Patrol puts their lives on the line for our country every day,” said PBR COO Sean Gleason, who recently spent a week on a mounted patrol with USBP agents. “In the wake of this tragedy, we’re doubly grateful for their service and protection. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Rosas family.”
“We mourn his loss, but celebrate his sacrifice to our great nation,” said Robert L. Harris, Acting Deputy Chief of the Border Patrol. “He is the 108th Border Patrol Agent to die in the line of duty, and was brutally murdered while protecting our Nation's borders.”
Agent Rosas is being laid to rest today in a ceremony at El Centro, Calif. He was honored in the United States Congress yesterday, by the reading of H. Res. 681 into the record, and will be remembered publicly at the Built Ford Tough Series event this weekend in San Antonio.
A memorial account to assist his family has been established through Cabrillo Credit Union in San Diego.
