There are 20 vehicles in the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury lineup that qualify for this program and only one CARS incentive may be used in the new vehicle sale. To trade in a vehicle, the customer must purchase the new vehicle from a participating car dealership. The following limitations are in effect:
**The trade-in vehicle has to be manufactured less than 25 years before the trade-in date.
**The trade-in vehicle must have a combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 mpg or less.
**The trade-in vehicle must be in drivable condition and be continuously registered and insured to the same owner for the full-year preceding the trade-in.
**The manufacturers’ suggested retail price for the new vehicle cannot exceed $45,000.
**Additionally, the F-150, Super Duty, and E-Series will qualify under certain conditions if the vehicle being traded in is a truck of comparable size, as defined in the legislation.
