“It feels great to win,” Dirteater stated in the Dallas winner’s circle. “I’m so glad my mom, my dad, and friends were able to be here to see it.”
In round one, Dirteater split first and second place after scoring 89 points on top bucking bull, Cat Man Do, owned by #10 Bucking Bulls. He followed that up with an 87.75 point ride on Boyd/Floyd Bull Company’s Stiffler, giving him a total of 176.75 points and the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Dirteater was the first to draft his bull and chose to get on The Geetus, owned by D&H Cattle Company. He rode the top bull for 83 points and although he finished seventh in the final round of competition, he found himself winning the coveted Dickies Invitational event title.
PBR superstar J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) took second place overall after scoring 256 points on three bulls. Taking third place was Ryan McConnel (Farmington, N.M.) who totaled 255.75 points while Oklahoma cowboy Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) took home fourth place with a total of 254.25 points. Rounding out fifth place was PBR veteran Brian Herman (Victoria, Texas) who covered two bulls and scored 178.25 points.
The race for PBR’s million dollar world title takes the PBR’s whirlwind tour to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Copenhagen Bull Riding Invitational. Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s “Ride with the Best” Bonus:
Due to his round two win at last weekend’s Sacramento Classic, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Dickies Invitational. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Cat Man Do, owned by #10 Bucking Bulls, Dirteater was awarded the $5,000 bonus.
Due to his win in round one of the Dickies Invitational, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) took on the bull, Stiffler, owned by Boyd/Floyd Bull Company, and was successful. Therefore, Dirteater took home of the $5,000 bonus.
As the winner of round two, Team Enterprise rider Brian Herman (Victoria, Texas) will be eligible for the bonus in round one of Sacramento, Calif.
Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:
Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and won the Dickies Invitational; therefore, he collected the $10,000 bonus. The bonus will return to $5,000 for the next event in Winston-Salem, N.C. The event grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.
Ford F-150 Challenge:
As the Dickies Invitational event winner, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) has qualified for a chance to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2009 Built Ford Tough Series event winners. The Ford F-150 Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win a brand-new 2009 F-150 truck.
Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:
The bull, Jacob’s Pet, owned by D&H Cattle Co./Runyan, earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 46.75 points. This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges’ bull score.
