Guilherme Marchi Locks Up His First World Championship!!

Two-time World Champion Justin McBride takes round six victory.

By PBR

The top 45 bull riders in the world delighted the sold-out Saturday night crowd at the Thomas & Mack Center during the sixth round of the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler.  Brazilian superstar Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) claimed his first PBR World Championship during the evening’s round---a title he has been runner up for the last three years.  Marchi claimed a $1 million bonus with his win and is still in the running for the 2008 PBR World Finals Event title.

Two-time PBR World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) took the sixth round win after conquering a familiar foe, Scene of the Crash, owned by Frontier/Teague/Ron White, for 91.75 points and a $25,000 check.  Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.), another two-time PBR World Champion, took second place after riding the bull, Devil’s Night of 4C’s Bucking Bulls/Marvin Nixon, for 91 points and $18,000.  Third place went to Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) who rode Diamond S Bucking Bulls’ Hot Stuff for 90.5 points.  Palermo, who celebrated his 27th birthday, picked up a check for $12,000.  Young gun Reese Cates (Carthage, Texas) rode Chad Berger/Clay Stuve’s bull, Team Equine’s Evil Forces for 90 points and a fourth place finish.  Cates added $10,000 to his bank account.

As the winner of round five at the 2008 PBR World Finals presented by Wrangler in Las Vegas, Nev., Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round six.  He was bucked off the bull, Smash Hit; therefore, the stock contractor, Diamond S/ExclusiveGenetics.com, collected the $5,000 bonus.  As the winner of round six, Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) will be eligible to compete for the bonus during round seven of the event.

The PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler wraps up on Sunday, November 9 at the Thomas & Mack Center for round seven of the world-class event.  The top 45 bull riders will continue to take on the world’s best bulls as they compete for the 2008 World Finals Event title.
