The uniform displays the pattern and color scheme of the flag from each nation that is competing—Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. The jerseys are devised to fit over the riders’ protected vest. Some riders will also be wearing new vests, specially conceived by PBR co-founder and Livestock Director Cody Lambert. The PBR wanted to test the new uniform concept at the World Cup because of the international event is one-of-a-kind.
“This event brings together the best bull riders from around the world—each representing their home countries. It is the Olympics of our sport and we wanted to bring this new element to our sport during this weekend’s competition,” stated Randy Bernard, PBR CEO.
The PBR continues to maintain its position as a leader in the professional sports landscape by continuing to push the envelope and add cutting-edge elements into the sport of professional bull riding, as is evident with the new PBR Team Shootout on ESPN and the PBR World Cup. New and innovative uniforms and equipment are just one way that all professional sports, including the NFL, NBA and NASCAR, continue to stay at the forefront of innovation and growth.
“After we received the approval of the bull riders, their agents and their sponsors, we knew the World Cup was the perfect place to unveil the uniforms due to the uniqueness of the competition,” Bernard said.
You can see the new uniforms and watch all of the action from the PBR World Cup on VERSUS this weekend, Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17, at 9 p.m. EST nightly.
