The Brazilian sensations covered both of their bulls during the competition to ride into the winner’s circle. Oliveira started the first section with a 91.5 point score on Red Devil (Circle T Bucking Bulls.) Two other 80-plus point scores by the pair positioned Team Oliveira in first place going into the fourth and final section. Rosa twisted Water Moccasin (Flying U/Moreno Bucking Bulls) for 90.5 points, which were enough points to secure the event win and $50,000 purse.
“I feel a lot of emotion for winning it (the PBR Del Mar Shootout) mainly because I’m helping a friend who was not ranked in the top 45. Also, I feel very proud to be the first team to win a Team Shootout event,” Oliveira said.
Placing second was Team Arageo consisting of Robson Arageo (Sergipe, Brazil) and Helton Barbosa (Douradina, PR, Brazil.) Going into the fourth section, each team is given the option of staying with its drawn bull or it can choose from the rankest bulls in the “undesirable pen.” If a bull from that pen is ridden, the score is doubled. Team Arageo was the only team to take the option and it served them well. Barbosa thrilled the crowd by riding the infamous Reindeer Dippin (Flying U/Moreno Bucking Bull) for 166 points.
As the second placing team of the event, Team Arageo also earns a spot at the PBR Team Finals as well.
