In round 1, Lee rode Hillstreet, owned by Boyd/Floyd Bull Co., for 85.5 points. He added another 87.5 points after he completed a ride on Handsome Jack (Hebert Bucking Bulls) and went into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in 5th place on two bulls. At the Dallas draft which was held during intermission, the 2004 World Champ chose to ride Boyd/Floyd Bull Co.’s Hot Pistol. Lee was rewarded a re-ride bull and got on Mr. Zantrex, owned by D&H Cattle Co. He scored 89.75 points and was the only man to cover all three of his bulls over the weekend.

“I saw him [Mr. Zantrex] buck in last night’s Grudge Match and saw that he had lots of kick and, man, he really likes to buck,” Lee said about his final bull. He also added, “It’s really cool to win in Dallas because I live in Texas. The fans are behind me and that’s great.”

As the winner of the Dallas event, Lee found himself as the first participant in the next Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot Grudge Match in Tulsa, Okla. He was able to pick his opponent from a list of elite bull riders that included previous World Champions, riders in the Top 10 BFTS standings, and 2008 BFTS event champions. Lee chose close friend, Dustin Hall (Springfield, Mo.), who won the 2008 Cooper Tires Invitational in Chicago, Ill., for the next Grudge Match. “I couldn’t pick Wiley Petersen so I picked Dustin Hall who is also one of my best friends,” Lee said about his choice.

Taking second place overall was Australian sensation Brendon Clark (Morpeth, AUS) who covered two bulls and finished with 180.25 points and took home $17,614. Clark also received the highest score of the event with a 92 point ride on Gnash, owned by Rafter 7R Bucking Bulls. He did not get to pick his bull as he was the 15th man after two rounds, but felt confident he had a bull he could score well on. “The other guys left me the best bull in the pen,” Clark said.

Third place went to two-time (2000 & 2003) PBR World Champion Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) who won $13,050 after he rode two of three bulls for 179.5 points. This was Shivers first event back after he broke his cheekbone and eye socket in Chicago, Ill., and was out for about eight weeks. Dallas round 1 winner, Mike White (De Kalb, TX) finished in fourth place overall with 179 points and $13,364 and Brazilian Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) scored 175.75 points and added $9,974 to his wallet.

Dallas also marked the comeback of two-time (2005 & 2007) and reigning PBR World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.). Not only did McBride take on his first bull of 2008, but he also had his first draft experience. He rode both his 1st and 2nd round bulls for a total of 174.5 points, but bucked off his Championship Round bull, Billionaire, owned by Bailey Rodeo Company. McBride finished the weekend in 7th place overall.

The race for PBR’s million dollar world title takes the top 45 bull riders in the world to Tulsa, Okla., on July 18-20 for the Express Classic presented by Creek Nation Casino. Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s “Ride with the Best” Bonus:

As the winner of round two at the Git-R-Done Invitational in Orlando, Fla., Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Dickies American Worker of the Year Invitational. Nunes rode his bull, Hellfire (#10 Bucking Bulls) and took home the $5,000 check.

As the round one winner of the Dickies American Worker of the Year Invitational presented by Pike Electric, Mike White (De Kalb, TX) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during the second round of competition in Dallas. By covering the bull, Scary Deal, owned by Diamond S Bucking Bulls, White earned a score of 86 points and took home the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round two, two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) will be eligible for the bonus at the 23rd BFTS stop in Tulsa, Okla.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:

Mike White (De Kalb, TX) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and ultimately did not win the Dickies American Winner of the Year Invitational presented by Pike Electric. As the $5,000 bonus was not claimed, it will increase to $10,000 at the Express Classic presented by Creek Nation Casino in Tulsa, Okla., on July 18-20. The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Ford Super Duty Challenge:

As the Dickies American Worker of the Year Invitational presented by Pike Electric event winner, Mike Lee (Decatur, TX) has qualified for a chance to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2008 Built Ford Tough Series event winners, for $50,000 toward the purchase of a 2009 Ford Super Duty Truck. The Ford Super Duty Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win the Ford Super Duty Challenge.

Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:

Grey Dog (D&H Cattle Co./Junk Bull Co.) earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 46.25 points in Dallas. This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges’ bull score.

Cabela’s World’s Foremost Ride:

Brendon Clark (Morpeth, AUS) recorded the highest marked ride of the event when he scored 92 points on Gnash (Rafter 7R Bucking Bulls) during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Dickies American Worker of the Year Invitational presented by Pike Electric. Consequently, he earned a $1,000 bonus.

The rider who achieves the highest score at each BFTS regular season event, excluding the PBR World Finals receives a bonus of $1,000 for the accomplishment. The PBR athlete who achieves the highest marked qualifying ride during the entire 2008 BFTS regular season, excluding the PBR World Finals event will receive $25,000, while second and third place finishers will be awarded $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The bull rider who achieves the highest marked ride through the course of the entire 2008 PBR BFTS World Finals will earn an additional $10,000.

Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot Grudge Match:

The Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot Grudge Match showcased traveling partners and close friends in its second outing. Orlando event winner, Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.), and L.J. Jenkins (Texico, NM), took on one bull each with the highest scored rider taking the $5,000 prize money. After Willingham chose the bull, Ali, owned by Joe Wimberly, Jenkins was given the bull, Mr. Zantrex (Page & Teague Bucking Bulls) who debuted as the official bull of Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot. Both riders bucked off their bulls that were hand-selected by Livestock Director, Cody Lambert; therefore, neither claimed the prize money. With both Willingham and Jenkins bucking off, the $10,000 will now roll over to the next Grudge Match in Tulsa, Okla., where $15,000 will be up for grabs.
