Weighing in at 5’3” and 120 pounds, Canter is slight in stature but no lightweight in the world of professional bull riding. He has been riding professionally for three years and in that time has made three trips to the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, Nev. The Omaha Classic title was, however, just the second BFTS tour title of his career.

“The last time I won a Built Ford Tough Series event was in Billings, Mont. (NILE Invitational), the year before last,” Canter said. “I’m excited about this win and the bull I had in the short round of H.D. Page’s was great.”

When asked if his seemingly effortless, calm and cool riding style fit Hot Stuff’s pattern of bucking, Canter said, “Something about my riding style must have fit that bull because I’d never had him and didn’t know anything about him and it worked out great. I was 92.5 points on him.”

That outstanding 92.5 point final round effort moved Canter to fifth in the Cabela’s Hi Marked Ride standings and the Omaha Classic victory brings his career earnings to $599,589. Canter stated during his interview immediately following the win that he is healthy and optimistic about the 2008 season.

Finishing fourth in the preliminary go round, Canter staged a steady assault on the top stop in the Omaha Classic event standings by placing fifth in round two to advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship round in the lead with a total on two bulls of 175 cumulative points. His closest challenger was three time PBR world champion Adriano Moraes, who met with some bad luck and a no score in final round action. Moraes ultimately finished fourth overall by the time the curtain closed on the Omaha Classic. Austin Meier advanced to the championship round ranked third overall and rode his way to 86.75 points and second overall behind Canter when he topped Frontier and Teague Bucking Bulls’ notorious Big Bucks in the finals. Rounding out the top three in Omaha was Nick Landreneau (Sulphur, La.), whose 90.5 point final round effort against #10 Bucking Bulls’ Cat Man Do made him the only man besides Canter to cover three bulls during the course of three go rounds at the Omaha Classic.

Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Sao Paulo, BZ) maintains a strangle hold on the top spot in the PBR World Standings by a margin of 1,702 points. Marchi boasts an 80.85 percent riding average, but finished out of the big money in Omaha after covering only his first go round draw. Second ranked Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) is in relentless pursuit of Marchi and finished sixth overall in Omaha to earn BFTS points that will be crucial to victory in the race for bull riding’s ultimate million dollar year-end laurel.

The race for PBR’s million dollar world title takes the top 45 to Billings, Mont., April 18-20 for the NILE Invitational. Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) aggravated a previous injury to the ring finger on his riding hand. He is getting x-rays and is questionable for Billings.

Brendon Clark (Morpeth, New South Wales, AUS) did not ride on Saturday night due to a concussion from Friday's night ride on Busta Move. He is probable for Billings.

Dickies DuraBullfighter Joe Baumgartner tore his MCL. He will be out for approximately four weeks.

Jared Farley (Kempsey, New South Wales, AUS) sprained his shoulder (free arm). He is getting x-rays and is questionable for Billings.

Jarrod Craig (Hillsboro, Texas) aggravated a sprained shoulder (free arm) from a previous injury. He is getting x-rays and is questionable for Billings.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car's "Ride with the Best" Bonus:

As the Nampa Invitational round three winner, Luke Snyder (Raymore, Mo.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during the first round of competition in Nampa. Snyder successfully earned the $5,000 bonus as well as the first go round win aboard Page and Teague Bucking Bulls’ Big Rig.

By virtue of his round one win, Snyder was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during the second round of competition in Omaha. Snyder received a no score and consequently D&H Cattle Co. and Junk Cattle Co., owners of the bull Bonafide, earned the $5,000 bonus for their bull’s performance.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:
Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and ultimately won the Omaha Classic event title; therefore he claimed the $5,000 Ford Truck Moment of Truth bonus. The bonus will be $5,000 at the NILE Invitational on April 18-20. The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Ford Super Duty Challenge:
As the Omaha Classic event winner, Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) has qualified for a chance to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2008 Built Ford Tough Series event winners, for $50,000 toward the purchase of a 2009 Ford Super Duty Truck. The Ford Super Duty Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win the Ford Super Duty Challenge.

Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:
Frontier, Teague and Ron White’s bull Nervous Waters earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 46.25 points in Omaha. This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges' bull scores.

Cabela's World's Foremost Ride:
Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) recorded the highest marked ride of the event when he topped D&H Cattle Company’s Hot Stuff for 92.5 points during the championship round of the Omaha Classic. Consequently, he earned a $1,000 bonus.

The rider who achieves the highest score at each BFTS regular season event, excluding the PBR World Finals receives a bonus of $1,000 for the accomplishment. The PBR athlete who achieves the highest marked qualifying ride during the entire 2008 BFTS regular season, excluding the PBR World Finals event will receive $25,000, while second and third place finishers will be awarded $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The bull rider who achieves the highest marked ride through the course of the entire 2008 PBR BFTS World Finals will earn an additional $10,000.
