"This was my first time on Chief and I was a little nervous getting on him, but it worked out. After tonight, I wouldn't mind getting on him every night," said Rasch. "I feel good tonight. Last night I got banged up with a shot in the head. It sure didn't knock any sense into me because I came back tonight."
Last night, only six of the season's top 45 riders successfully rode the rankest bucking bulls in the fourth round. Tonight, 17 riders tasted success, including young gun L.J. Jenkins, 19, (Texico, N.M.) who regained the event lead, with a five-round score of 356.75 points, from the PBR's oldest rider, Adriano Moraes, 36, (Cachoeira Paulista SP, Brazil) who saw his streak of covering bulls attempted stopped at four as a result of an unsuccessful re-ride aboard Page & Teague Bucking Bulls' Holy Moly. The 2005 Rookie of the Year and crowd favorite Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) is second with 349.25 points.
"After getting thrown off last night, I was determined to stay on my bull tonight," said Jenkins. "There are only so many days left. I'm just worried about the average."
Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) with 10,680.50 points, extended his PBR Built Ford Tough Series Points lead to 1,454.75 over second place Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) who stayed at 9,225.75 in the race for the $1 million bonus which will be awarded to the 2006 PBR World Champion based on earning the most PBR Built Ford Tough Series Points. Marchi scored 89.25 aboard Page & Teague Bucking Bull's Squirt Gun. Lee was bucked off Bailey Rodeo Company's Super Cool
