"Today I drew two great bulls, but I knew I could ride them" said Moraes. "Today I could ride Godzilla. Little Yellow Jacket [the only three-time PBR World Champion Bull] and me, make a good combination. Little Yellow Jacket was a great bull and the only one to win the title three times, and Adriano Moraes, who is the only one to win three world titles, is a pretty good rider although I'm still going while his career is over. I still have a lot to accomplish,"
Seventeen of the season's top 45 riders successfully rode the rankest bucking bulls in today's seventh round, with the top 15 moving into the eighth and final short-go round. Only four riders covered their short-go attempts.
The PBR's 2006 Built Ford Tough World Finals event and the winner's share of $225,000, was won by L.J. Jenkins, (Texico, NM), 19, the event's youngest rider.
"I felt great and had a lot of confidence going into this event," said Jenkins. "The whole month before leading into the PBR World Finals, I was doing my best riding and I knew it would carry over into Las Vegas. In fact, I told my mother I was coming to win, even though I was competing against the top-45 riders in the world."
As the PBR World Finals came to a close, so did J.B. Mauney's (Mooresville, NC) quest for the Daisy Rookie of the Year accolade. Mauney will walk away from Sin City with the $5,000 dollar bonus and commemorative buckle, edging out Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) by just over $33,000 dollars. When asked about his accomplishment Mauney stated, "It's a dream come true, you can only do this once in your career. I've wanted this since I was a kid, so it means a lot to me."
