09.01.06 - Press Releases

$90,000 Claimed in the Mossy Oak Shootout

By PBR

First go round action of the Johnsonville Brats Jerome Davis Challenge concluded tonight from Greensboro Coliseum. Stop number 26 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) featured non-stop, adrenaline-charged action that ended with one rider claiming the $90,000 Mossy Oak Shootout Bonus. The second round of action happens on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. and culminates with a thrilling championship round for the top 15 qualifiers who will be chasing a shot at the prestigious event title. Only four regular season tour stops remain before the Built Ford Tough World Finals rock Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 27 – Nov. 5.

Fans can tune in to the Johnsonville Brats Jerome Davis Challenge on Sunday, Sept. 17 on FOX. Please visit http://www.pbrnow.com/media/tv/ for the complete broadcast schedule. The event is the PBR’s first tour stop to ever be featured on the FOX network, and also marks the PBR’s debut on an NFL Sunday. Please be advised to check all local listings since broadcast times will vary depending upon Sunday’s NFL game. Additionally, the event will be broadcast on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. EST on OLN.

Current PBR World Standings leader Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Sao Paulo, Brazil) took top honors in round one with 86.75 points on Robinson/Tedesco’s Mule Train. Marchi was eligible to compete for the rich reward of $90,000 in the Mossy Oak Shoot Out held at the conclusion of the first round. Marchi successfully matched moves with Frontier, Teague and Ron White’s bull Scene of the Crash to cash in on the hefty bonus.

Understandably excited with the Mossy Oak Shootout victory, Marchi said, “I felt physically and psychologically ready, and felt that I had the ability to get the bull ridden. I plan to invest the money here in the United States. I am very proud to win the Mossy Oak Shootout in the city where Wrangler is headquartered since they sponsor me.”

2005 PBR World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) split second and third place go round money with Ross Coleman (Molalla, Ore.). McBride topped Shawn Ballard’s Dirt Duster for 86.5, while Coleman tamed Page & Teague Bucking Bulls’ Nervous Waters for an identical score.
