PBR Bullfighter Greg Crabtree Killed in Tragic Accident

By PBR

The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) mourns and regretfully announces the passing of one of the most devoted members of the PBR family. Known for his unbridled energy, enthusiasm and talent, Greg Crabtree passed away on Tuesday, November 29. When not on the road attending a PBR sanctioned event, Crabtree managed his farm in Cuero, Texas. On Tuesday, Crabtree was involved in a bulldozing accident while clearing brush on some property near Flatonia, Texas. Information concerning the accident was provided by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office in La Grange, Texas.

Greg is celebrated by family, friends and fans for his unique personality, not to mention his fearless attitude and unparalleled ability to save bull riders as a member of the Dickies DuraBullfighting team. Week in and week out, Crabtree unselfishly sacrificed his well-being to save the lives of top PBR cowboys. Greg Crabtree was greatly respected and trusted by the PBR's top 45 bull riders who voted him to defend their lives against their 2,000 pound bovine opponents for the past four years at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals held in Las Vegas, Nev.

"He was a great lifesaver, one of the toughest guys ever," remembers PBR President Ty Murray. "He would step in there every time without question almost as if he had no fear. He is the only guy I thought truly had no fear at all. He definitely will be missed."

Greg gained status as a fan favorite for his unique style and enthusiasm for the sport, but also earned the admiration of everyone in the bull riding community for his talent and athleticism. Crabtree was easily recognized among his bullfighting counterparts as not only the largest in stature but also for his carefree style and the Dickies baseball cap that he wore during events instead of the standard Stetson cowboy hat.

Philip Williamson, President and CEO of Williamson-Dickie remembers Greg as one of the true heroes of the PBR. "He [was] greatly admired for the tremendous heart and courage he brought into the arena as a Dickies DuraBullfighter. We at Dickies will miss Greg's irreplaceable spirit and zest for life. We send our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, children and many friends at the PBR."

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3rd at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, Texas. For more information please call 361 865 3311. The Rosary will be on Friday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Crabtree leaves behind wife, Tommie Lynn, and three children; Mason, Katelyn and Victoria.
