Upon the conclusion of the Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) Battle of the Bulls Enterprise Tour event held in Amarillo, Texas on August 5-6 it was Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.), 18, who engineered the win. The Amarillo National Center-Tri State Fairgrounds hosted the event which was held in conjunction with American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) Classic Series action, a format which features the best three- and four-year-old bucking bulls in the nation. Canter's convincing 89.5 point ride during final round action represented the high marked ride of the weekend, also enabling him to secure the event championship with 175.5 points scored on two bulls. The win was worth $7,539 in PBR bucks to the North Carolina cowboy, who incidentally split second and third place money with an 86 point score in preliminary round action behind Shawn McCalister (Shreveport, La.). The win in Amarillo represents the most significant of Canter's PBR career. Panama Red, owned by Rafter G Ranch and Glen McIvain, topped the field of Classic bulls with 181.50 points, while another of the Rafter G/McIvain bulls called Shanghai, finished second.
