"In only its second year of operation, the ABBI will achieve the astounding goal of awarding the 2005 World Champion three or four-year-old bull a $150,000 paycheck. It's tremendously exciting for those involved in the bucking bull industry that the ABBI has created this type of earnings potential for bucking bulls before they even compete on the Built Ford Tough Series and gain network and cable television exposure. I predict that we will see the top caliber World Bucking Bull Classic qualifiers earning one million dollars through ABBI programs within the next four years," states Randy Bernard, CEO of the PBR.
Executive Director of the ABBI, Joe Merrick, states, "We are pleased to be able to offer this substantial increase over last year. The additional prize money is a direct result of the tremendous growth of the ABBI and the participation of our breeders. Their enthusiastic support of the Classic and Futurity systems is a testament to the positive future of the bucking bull business."
The ADM Alliance Nutrition ABBI Futurity Finals takes place on Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1 also at the Orleans Arena. The event, which features the best and brightest young bulls from stock contractors and breeders across the country begins at 1:30 p.m. each day. The ADM Alliance Nutrition World Finals Futurity is a competition for two-year-old bulls that buck carrying a small mechanical "dummy," which is used to simulate a bull rider. These are some of the best bred and most athletic young bulls in the nation and their natural bucking ability is amazing. As they compete for an estimated purse of over $150,000 dollars and the title of World Champion, the future bull power of the PBR will be on display.
Once again in 2005, the ABBI World Finals Bull Sale will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m. via video. In its inaugural year during 2004, the sale drew celebrity bidders such as Jewel, Ty Murray and Bernie Taupin.
