The future stars of the PBR displayed their skill this past weekend during the Heart of the West Ford Invitational in Reno, which was stop number 14 on the Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS). Local youngsters competed in a special Mutton Bustin' competition on Saturday morning, March 5 at the Downtown Events Center during the PBR's inaugural 2005 Mutton Bustin' event. The next PBR Mutton Bustin' will take place in Tacoma, Wash. during the Oh Boy! Oberto Invitational, March 19-20.

The PBR Mutton Bustin' was an overwhelming success in Reno with 23 local participants testing their riding abilities. Each contestant received awards, including PBR Mutton Bustin' T-shirts, as well as ever-popular PBR stickers and hat decals, bandanas, D Bar M Western Store coupons, and Reride Fan Club memberships. Additionally, all participants had the unique opportunity to meet PBR's official mascot Reride up close and in person, as well as bull riding sensations Tony Mendes, Tater Porter and Brendon Clark. The top six finishers were presented with Wrangler jeans gift certificates during the Saturday evening Heart of the West Ford Invitational performance. Kids between the ages of four and six and weighing 55 pounds or less are eligible to compete and are judged upon the skill demonstrated as they attempt to stay aboard the sheep for the required 6 seconds. Kids are outfitted with protective helmets and vests.
