An Electrifying Finale Captivates the BULLNANZA-Reno Audience

Rookie Contender Overpowers the Competition

By PBR

In a final round showdown against the most celebrated top ranked bull riders in the world during BULLNANZA-Reno, it was rookie contender Zack Brown whose compelling victory captivated the Lawlor Event Center audience as stop number 24 on the Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) presented by Wrangler concluded on September 12th after two nights of intense action. Brown summed up the dramatic final round experience, which ended in his $30,100 BULLNANZA-Reno title as, "outstanding." The Chino Hills, Calif. resident added, "This is what I'm supposed to do and it's what I've been going to these events to accomplish by competing on the best bulls against the best guys."

Brown set the pace during preliminary go round action with a blistering 90 point score aboard Jack Simmons' Desert Storm, which he followed up with 82 points in the second and subsequent go round for a solid two round total of 172 points and a spot in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Sparks flew during the final round of competition and after an 89 point performance aboard Jack Simmons' Red Alert, a bull that he described as "very strong, requiring a lot of work," Brown took the lead against the biggest names in bull riding with his cumulative score of 261 points on three bulls. After Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) fell short of the eight second mark at 7.4 on the clock and two-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes (Cachoeira Pualista, Sao Paulo Brazil) bucked off in a heartbreaking 7.9 seconds, the rookie was challenged by Mike Lee (Alvord, Texas) who posted an 88 point score and came up a scant half-point shy of earning the event title with an aggregate of 260.5 on three bulls. Lee's strong showing enabled him to pass McBride in the BFTS point standings in the race for the world title. Lee trails PBR powerhouse and current world standings leader, Moraes, by 1,378 points.

As selected by the event judges, the top bull honors were awarded to Flying U Rodeo's Reindeer Dippin', while second place went to Panda owned by Munson Cattle Company.
